Where do I pull inspiration for the locations, settings, and architecture in my books?

I wanted to post something fun (at least I think it is!) to show everyone where I pulled inspiration for the locations, landscapes, and architecture in my books (book two is nearing completion!)

I created a huge mood board on Pinterest (over 5 years!), which I then separated into several categories, and the following images and videos were pulled from the landscape and architecture section.

My husband and I love to peruse Zillow (we are looking to invest more in real estate) and scour top-end real estate agents and listings on YouTube and the internet on a regular basis. I also love to read about the latest smart technology used in homes, which is utterly amazing.

Here are some of the images and locations that inspired me and took my imagination to new places…

So, which is your favorite image? The house in the video was built for entertaining, and if you have read my book, you know which location I pulled inspiration for from that listing. There are several homes like this in that specific area. While writing book one, I took several trips to the area to feel the space out. We have also spent many days and sometimes weeks in the area where I set Rae’s family home. I love it there.

It’s gorgeous in every season! I love hiking the many trails in the area or visiting one of the apple orchards or peach orchards to pick fruit. Of course, the wineries are such a pleasure to see, too. We always bring a beautiful picnic lunch or dine at some of the wineries’ restaurants.

These are just a few images and areas from which I pulled inspiration. I hope you enjoyed this little tour of amazing places and spaces!

Until next time,

Live your life with passion and love!
